The reprint of the now unavailable first issue of Spytt magazine: when it all began.
Gathering the contribution of 18 artists tired of the arbitrariness of algorithms and the censorial axe of Social Networks, Spytt 2023 promotes the intellectual and artistic value of that photography that must move by subterfuge, hidden, censored, barely surviving. Spytt means to spit out to exorcise the relationship with the world, with rage, sadness, frustration, redemption. Spytt 2023 is rebellion against the dictatorship of editorial norms and the common thread, against imposed morals, dogmas, society, that which unmakes us.
Spytt is a photographic anthology without texts: a journey into the minds of the artists, sacred like a museum. The 88 pages of Spytt 2023 are a casket of more than 100 photographs by 18 artists, united by not being welcome on the most common Social Networks, if not heavily censored, or heavily limited by algorithms due to their content. Spytt 2023 was born in response to the endless sequence of unjust removals for “adult luring” or for “sexual acts”, monstrous pretexts that do not even attempt to disguise the aversion to eroticism, art, nudity, sex work, body positivity, fetishism and even sex education.
